Get Involved by Volunteering
The Opportunities Available For Volunteers Are Endless
On the lake or on shore, volunteers are the hands, hearts, and humor that keep our ships, the Abbey Road and the Zeeto, mission‑ready. Whether you have a lot of nautical skills, or none, we welcome you as a volunteer. Volunteers work with professional captains to keep our boats sailing: cleaning, sanding, painting, helping at a festival, or working behind the scenes, your time makes a real difference for the youth we serve. We provide in-depth training to teach you the ropes, so that you can teach others. You will increase your own skills while you help our young people to develop theirs.
Never worked on a boat before? No problem. We’ll teach you.
Have a ton of sailing experience? Great! Come add to it and put your skills to the test in a very unique environment.
Enjoy working with kids? Excellent. You’ll thrive with us..
Why Volunteer With Us?
Because here, you’re not just helping out, you’re joining a crew with purpose.
Volunteers keep Abbey Road and Zeeto seaworthy, support life‑changing youth programs, and help share the magic of Lake Superior with our community. Every hour you give helps young people build confidence, courage, and a lifelong connection to the water.
You’ll work alongside a fun, supportive crew that laughs often, works hard, and welcomes everyone, whether you’ve sailed for years or don’t know port from starboard yet. And now, your service even earns Sailing Credits you can redeem for your own adventures on the lake. If you’re looking for community, impact, and a little adventure, you’ll fit right in
No Experience? No Problem. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Earn Sailing Credits While You Volunteer
Starting in 2026, every volunteer hour earns Sailing Credits, which you can redeem for real adventures on the lake like:
Deckhand for a Day
Intro to Maritime Careers
Two Days Before the Mast (overnight!)
Volunteer‑Only Sails
You can even use credits to bring a guest on select sails through our new Crew Share option.
Your time keeps our ships afloat, now it gets you on deck.
